It is not only posture: load, breathing, movement and work habits matter.
Why it may hurt between the shoulder blades
This area participates in shoulder movement, thoracic movement and breathing. Laptop work is not dangerous by itself, but infrequent position changes, raised shoulders and fatigue can increase tension. One rhomboid muscle is rarely the whole story.
What can help during a workday
Rather than chasing one perfect posture, change it more often: use the backrest, stand for a short call, move the shoulders and take brief walks. Simple actions repeated daily are usually more useful than a complex routine once a week.
When massage fits — and when to see a doctor
If discomfort follows stiffness and fatigue, massage may make movement easier and reduce perceived tension. Pain after trauma, chest pain, shortness of breath, fever, weakness or numbness require medical assessment instead.
